Our Aim

“We aim to support and advise former members of our UK Armed Forces, reservists and their family members, who experience any form of disadvantage post service.”

About Us

Lothians Veterans Centre is located in the heart of Dalkeith town centre, Midlothian. The charity is primarily designed as a ‘drop-in’ centre, with no appointments necessary, to advise and support former members of our UK Armed Forces and their families. We have a small team of dedicated staff readily available to tackle any challenges that present, however minor or complex.

We offer a safe, relaxed and supportive environment where likeminded people can share experiences, gain professional and peer support in a home from home setting, breaking down barriers of social exclusion and promoting comradeship.

Most of our highly professional team have served in the Armed Forces, or are connected with the Armed Forces in some way. The team also possess a wealth of experience which enables them to offer an empathetic approach to supporting Veterans and their family members, making their transition from military to civilian life easier.

We can provide invaluable assistance, support and advice in a wide range of services, including:

‘Working together’

“When you leave service life, you can often feel all at sea, unable to find your place in the world and unsure of your value to others.”

Joined up partnership working is the very best way to support veterans’ in need. We have set up a vast and trusted network of professional partnerships that we are confident to signpost our members to, to the get the most appropriate support to address their issues. In some cases, we must negotiate and work with several agencies to get the desired result in a discreet and professional manner.

Show your support –

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. We established an Armed Forces Day Football Festival and Family Fun Day in 2014 to bring the community together to pay our respects to the Armed Forces (past and present). Our hugely successful now annual event is firmly on the fixture list of activities which supports Armed Forces Day throughout the country.
