I joined the team in February 2014 as the Support, Training and Employability for Ex-services Recruitment (STEER) Co-ordinator. Having previously volunteered within this organisation, experiencing first-hand the benefits of the services available and the importance of the Centre to the guys, I was keen to further my involvement.
Prior to joining the team I completed 9years military service within the 1st Battalion, theRoyal Scots. I loved every minute, completing 2 tours of duty, Op Telic 7 & 11. My military career was cut short due to a service related injury, leading to my medical discharged. After my discharge I took some much needed time out and set some personal goals including completing the Edinburgh Marathon which I did in 2012. This was a pivotal point in my life which gave me the motivation and confidence to re-access, both my personal life and working career.
I’ve now successfully managed to navigate from military into civilian life. Through my recent experiences of the transitional process, I bring military knowledge, a desire, commitment and a willingness to this role and an empathy to assist fellow veterans achieve their goals.
In my spare time, I’m very family orientated being a busy dad to four fantastic boys and enjoy coaching two local youth football teams within the community as well as coordinating and coaching a disabled football team.
